Barbeques Galore, one of Australia’s most recognisable BBQ and outdoor retail chains, is now closing its company-owned stores after a rescue deal collapsed.
According to reporting from the Australian Financial Review, a recapitalisation deal that was expected to keep the business trading fell through after the company was unable to reach an agreement with key suppliers. Sixty-two company-owned stores are closing on June 30, with around 500 staff impacted.

Barbeques Galore entered liquidation on June 16, 2026. Sixty-two company-owned stores are progressively closing, while 27 franchisee-owned stores are expected to have transitional arrangements in place.
Around 500 staff are impacted by the closeures, although reports state employee entitlements will be paid in full.
