3 Masterbuilt Gravity Series Accessories to Try

If you've had a gravity fed smoker for a while now, you've probably noticed it can do more than long, low and slow cooks. Once you start looking at masterbuilt gravity series accessories, a Masterbuilt unit becomes something else entirely, a proper outdoor kitchen. Whether you're after crispy wood-fired pizza on a Saturday night, or want your Sunday roast turning slowly over the coals instead of sitting flat on the grates, there are a handful of accessories built specifically to get more out of the smoker you already own. We've picked three of our favourites, each one designed to bolt straight onto your existing setup rather than asking you to buy anything new.

The Pizza Oven Attachment That Does More Than Pizza

First on the list is the pizza oven attachment, and it's easily one of the most popular upgrades for the Masterbuilt gravity series range. It fits most Masterbuilt gravity fed units, with the exception of the 560, and gives you 360 degree airflow around whatever you're cooking. That even heat is what nails a proper wood-fired style pizza base, crisp on the outside without burning the edges before the middle catches up.

Don't let the name fool you though. This isn't a one-trick accessory. Once it's fitted, you can bake anything that wants that same smoky finish, from a batch of cookies through to a tray of sausage rolls with a bit of extra flavour running through them. If you're already smoking low and slow on the weekend, swap the pizza oven attachment on for the next cook and you've got a completely different meal without touching another appliance.

The Rotisserie Kit With Room to Move

For anyone who wants to properly spit roast on their smoker rather than just bake or grill on it, the rotisserie kit is the accessory to look at. It fits every current and previous generation Masterbuilt gravity fed smoker, with a 9kg limit on the motor, so you've got plenty of room to load up a full lamb, a couple of chickens, or a decent sized pork shoulder and let it turn slowly over the coals.

Everything in the kit, including the prongs, is made from 304 stainless steel, so it's built to handle the heat and the weather without rusting out on you after a season or two. Spit roasting gives you that self-basting effect you don't get from a flat grate cook, the fat renders down over the meat as it turns instead of dripping straight into the coals, which means more flavour and less standing over the smoker checking on it every ten minutes.

The Anti-Flare Up Manifold Cover You Didn't Know You Needed

The last one is a bit different to the other two, and it's the kind of accessory you don't think about until you've been cleaning grease off your manifold cover for the third time this month. The masterbuilt manifold cover comes in a range of sizes to suit most of the gravity fed range, though there's currently no version for the XT.

It does two jobs at once. First, it protects your manifold cover and makes cleanup a lot easier, since it's catching the mess instead of your smoker. Second, depending on the size you choose, it comes with or without water pan brackets, which means you can run a water pan underneath your cook for extra moisture without rigging anything up yourself. Like the rotisserie kit, it's made from 304 stainless steel, built to last through plenty of seasons of use.

FAQ

Will these fit my Masterbuilt smoker?

Most current and previous generation Masterbuilt gravity fed units, yes. The pizza oven attachment doesn't fit the 560, and the anti-flare up manifold cover doesn't yet come in a size for the XT. Everything else in the range is covered.

What else can I cook in the pizza oven attachment?

Plenty. Cookies and sausage rolls both come out with that same smoky finish you'd expect from anything else off your gravity fed smoker, so it's not limited to pizza night.

What's the weight limit on the rotisserie kit?

The motor's rated to 9kg, which is enough room for a full lamb, a couple of chickens, or a decent sized pork shoulder.
