The BBQ Spit Rotisseries Smoker Handbook: Finding Your Perfect Match

There’s BBQ… and then there’s smoked BBQ — low ‘n’ slow, juicy, packed with flavour and guaranteed to make the neighbours jealous. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to upgrade your current setup, choosing the right smoker is key.

At BBQ Spit Rotisseries, we know a thing or two about meat, smoke and Aussie backyards. So we’ve put together this smoker selection guide to help you find your perfect match without all the confusion.

Why Smoking Meat is So Bloody Good

If you’ve ever bitten into properly smoked brisket, you know what we’re talking about. It’s not just the flavour — it’s the bark, the tenderness, the smell while it’s cooking.

Reasons Aussies love smoking:

  • Deep, smoky flavour you can’t get from a gas grill
  • Impress-your-mates-level presentation
  • It’s more relaxed — throw it on and let it go
  • Perfect for big cuts: brisket, pork shoulder, ribs, even whole chickens

It’s a weekend ritual — and way more rewarding than flipping burgers every 5 minutes.

How to Choose the Right Smoker for You

When you’re picking a smoker, ask yourself:

  • How much time do I want to spend babysitting it?

Offset = hands-on. Gravity feed = relaxed.

  • How much space do I have?

Got a full deck? Go big. Smaller patio? Vertical is your friend.

  • What fuel do I want to use?

Charcoal for tradition. Gas/electric for convenience.

  • What meats am I cooking?

Brisket and ribs = lots of room. Fish or smaller cuts = vertical is fine.

Still unsure? Give us a shout — we’ll help you pick something that suits your style.
