MELBOURNE, VIC. As Barbeques Galore enters winding up and prepares to close 62 stores from June 16, Australian-owned BBQ and outdoor cooking specialist BBQ Spit Rotisseries says it is well positioned to serve the thousands of Australians who will be looking for a trusted alternative.
BBQ Spit Rotisseries, headquartered in Seaford, Melbourne, has been operating for 20 years as a specialist in spit rotisseries, smokers, pizza ovens, fire pits, kamado grills, and outdoor cooking equipment. The business operates a warehouse and showroom from its Melbourne base and ships Australia wide, with plans to expand its fulfilment network into Queensland and New South Wales.
"We're saddened to see Barbeques Galore close. It's an Australian retail institution and our thoughts are with the 500 staff affected," said Jason Bloms, General Manager, BBQ Spit Rotisseries. "At the same time, we want Australians to know there is a strong, locally-owned specialist that has been quietly building a loyal customer base for 20 years. We're here, we're well-stocked, and we're committed to being the best place in Australia to buy BBQ and outdoor cooking gear."
A Specialist Alternative With National Reach
Unlike large format retail chains, BBQ Spit Rotisseries operates as a warehouse-direct model, allowing it to offer a broader range at competitive prices without the overhead of a large store network. The business stocks products across multiple brands including Flaming Coals and Auspit, alongside a curated selection of third-party brands.
The company currently operates a showroom at its Seaford warehouse, where customers can see products in person before purchasing. Orders are fulfilled from the Melbourne warehouse and shipped to customers across Australia.
"Our model has always been about depth of knowledge and range, combined with the convenience of online shopping," said Jason. "We're not a generalist retailer that happens to sell BBQs. This is all we do, and we think that shows in the quality of our products and the service we provide."
EOFY Sale Underway
BBQ Spit Rotisseries has launched its biggest sale of the year, with discounts of up to 50 percent across its full range running from June 11 through to June 30. The sale covers spit rotisseries, smokers, pizza ovens, fire pits, and accessories.
"The timing is significant," said Jason. "Australians who had a BBQ purchase in mind, whether through Barbeques Galore or otherwise can find what they're looking for with us right now, at the best prices we offer all year."
Gift Card Holders and Existing Customers
BBQ Spit Rotisseries is encouraging Barbeques Galore gift card holders to use their cards before June 30 while the business is still trading. For customers with outstanding orders or warranty queries, the company recommends contacting administrators directly.
"We want to be helpful to people who are caught in a difficult situation," said Jason. "If there's anything we can do to assist, whether that's advice on products, matching a purchase they had planned, or simply pointing them in the right direction we're happy to do that."
Expansion Plans
BBQ Spit Rotisseries has confirmed it is exploring expansion of its warehouse and showroom model into Queensland and New South Wales, which would allow faster fulfilment for customers in those states and provide a physical touchpoint for the eastern seaboard market.
"We've always shipped nationally but we know that faster delivery times and the ability to see products in person matters to customers," said Jason. "The current retail landscape has accelerated our thinking around what an expanded fulfilment network could look like for us."
