19 Years of Excellence: How BBQ Spit Rotisseries Became Australia's Rotisserie Specialists

Long before low ‘n’ slow took over Instagram and backyard cooking went gourmet, there was just a bloke, a backyard, and a passion for spit roasting meat the proper way.

Fast-forward 19 years, and BBQ Spit Rotisseries is now one of the most trusted names in outdoor cooking across Australia with a full range of BBQ gear, an online store that ships nationwide, and a Melbourne showroom that smells as good as it looks.

But we didn’t get here by accident. Here’s how it all started and why we’re still the top rotisserie brand in the country today.

Where It All Began. The Early Days of BBQ Spit Rotisseries

Back in 2006, before online BBQ stores were even a thing, we saw a gap in the market. Outdoor cooks wanted reliable, heavy duty spit rotisseries not the flimsy stuff that wobbled, warped, or fell over mid roast.

So we started simple:

• Well-built charcoal spit rotisseries
• Straight up advice
• Honest pricing
• No BS marketing

And the orders started rolling in. First from locals, then interstate. Word spread quickly, turns out there were plenty of Aussies who wanted to cook properly outdoors and they were sick of the cheap junk in the big box stores.

From Backyard Builds to National BBQ Leaders

Over the years, we went from a few DIY kits to a full-scale operation:

• A Melbourne showroom where you can see the gear in action
• A massive online store: bbqspitrotisseries.com.au
• Over 20,000 verified customer reviews
• National shipping (yep, even the big stuff)
• A passionate team of BBQ specialists who actually use the gear they sell

And while the product range has grown, our focus hasn’t changed, we’re still all about helping Aussies get stuck into traditional charcoal cooking with reliable gear and genuine support.

What Makes Us Australia’s Rotisserie Specialists

Let’s be blunt: we live and breathe rotisseries. It’s not just one of our product categories it’s in the name. And we’ve built a reputation around getting it right.

Here’s what sets us apart:

• Huge Range: From portable spits to full lamb roasters, plus accessories, motors, baskets and more
• Gear That Works: Built from stainless steel, not tin foil
• 19 Years of Know How: We’ll help you get it spinning and keep it going
• Real Reviews: 20,000+ happy customers (and counting)
• Support That Doesn’t Disappear: Call us, email us, or pop instore we’ve got time for you

More Than Just Rotisseries. We’ve Grown With Aussie BBQ Culture

While spits are still our thing, we’ve expanded into everything outdoor cooking:

• BBQ smokers for low ‘n’ slow fans
• Wood-fired pizza ovens that fire up faster than your local delivery
• Traditional BBQs that last more than one summer
• Accessories, charcoal, rubs, sauces and more

Why? Because once our customers mastered spit roasting, they wanted more. So we brought them the best gear we could find and backed it with the same level of service we’re known for.

What’s Next for BBQ Spit Rotisseries?

We’re not done yet. We’re always testing new gear, shooting more how to videos, and working on fresh ways to make backyard cooking easier, more fun, and more flavour-packed.

What won’t change?

• Our commitment to quality
• Our love for proper charcoal cooking
• And our promise to keep things honest, helpful and never overhyped
