Charcoal chicken seasoning for chicken shop flavour at home

There's a reason charcoal chicken is a weekend ritual. That smoky, charred edge is what separates it from an ordinary roast chook, and it's the flavour this blend is made to deliver. Season your bird, fire up the cooker and let the smell do the talking.

• Smoky char flavour: brings the taste of a chicken shop bird to chicken you cook yourself.
• Savoury, herby blend: salt, sugar, herbs, dehydrated vegetable and yeast extract build a full, savoury finish.
• Ready to use: no mixing or measuring, just shake it on and start cooking.

Sprinkle it, rub it or marinate it

You don't need a fancy method to get great results. However you apply it, be generous with this charcoal chicken seasoning, because that is exactly how Atomic Chicken recommends using it.

• Sprinkle: shake it over chicken pieces before they hit the grill for quick, no-fuss flavour.
• Rub: work it all over a whole chook before roasting so the flavour covers the entire bird.
• Marinate: coat your chicken ahead of time and let the flavour settle in before cooking.

Not just for chicken

Once it's in the pantry, you'll find plenty of reasons to reach for it. This blend is just as handy on the rest of the plate as it is on the bird.

• Seafood: adds smoky, savoury flavour to seafood on the barbecue.
• Vegetables: lifts roast and grilled veggies with very little effort.
• Hot chips: a shake over hot chips gives you a proper chicken shop side.
• Mashed potato: stir it through mash for a big burst of flavour.

Frequently asked questions

How do I season a chicken with it?

Sprinkle, rub or marinate your chicken generously before roasting, barbecuing or grilling. For a whole bird, cover it all over so the flavour reaches every part of it.

Can I use it on anything other than chicken?

Yes. It's great on seafood, vegetables and hot chips, and it adds plenty of flavour to mashed potato.

Is it gluten free?

It isn't labelled gluten free. The blend uses rice flour, but the label states it may contain traces of gluten, so it isn't suitable if you need to strictly avoid gluten.

What allergens should I know about?

The label states it may contain traces of dairy, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and gluten. The full ingredients list is in the product details above.

How much is in the pack?
