Small Spit Rotisseries FAQs

We always recommend quality hardwood lump charcoal. Specifically mallee root. However, mallee root has become more and more difficult to source in recent years and real mallee root prices have skyrocketed. The next best charcoal we recommend is the Flaming Coals Natural Lump Charcoal and the all-natural Flaming Coals HotRods Briquettes.

Most of our small spit rotisseries come standard with a set of rotisserie prongs. If you own a jumbuck and are chasing some Jumbuck spit accessories or you are wanting to cook multiple cuts of meat, another set would be ideal.

You can also invest in Gyros Plates and some Gyros Seasoning for your small rotisserie, these really help when carving your gyros so you don’t have to avoid prongs.

Rotisserie Baskets are a fantastic accessory to really open up your spit rotisserie cooking options, baskets allow you to spit roast anything that can be skewered. Think pork belly, fish, and vegetables.

In short - a lot! Depending on what model you have, 8kg to 30kg is possible on the extendable spit. You can cater for the family to a small crowd. By no means is a small spit not capable. So just work out how much you want to cook and how often this will help guide you on spit selections.

Yes - absolutely. (Even if we are biased) a small spit rotisserie might be the perfect BBQ to start your journey before you move up to a larger spit. You can simply add a BBQ Rotisserie kit to your gas BBQ, Or perhaps you just want something small and portable to take away camping, pop in your caravan, or maybe you live in an apartment building. Just because the unit is small doesn’t mean these machines aren't capable. You’re going to love the taste! So just get cooking.

Spit roasting is a type of barbecuing that involves cooking meat on a spit, or long skewer, over an open flame. This method of cooking can be traced back to ancient times, and it is still used today by both professional chefs and home cooks. When done correctly, spit roasting can result in tender, juicy meat with a delicious smoky flavour.

If you're interested in trying spit roasting, there are a few things you should know before getting started.

Spit roasting is a popular cooking method that involves skewering meat on a BBQ Spit Rotisserie and cooking it over an open flame. The rotating action of the spit guarantees evenly cooked meat, while the exposure to direct heat creates a crispy, caramelised exterior. Spit roasting is an ideal cooking method for large cuts of meat such as pork shoulder or leg of lamb. To get started with spit roasting, you will need a bbq spit, charcoal, and a few accessories.

Start by lighting your charcoal then position your meat over the fire. Be sure to leave enough space between the meat and the flames to prevent charring. Cook the meat until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Spit roasting is a great way to impress your guests with flavorful, evenly cooked meats. With a little practice, anyone can master this cooking technique.
