The Pulse wireless probe will track your cook's internal temperature and the ambient temperature of the grill using two sensors - one near the tip, and one in the ceramic end. No wires are required.

Pulse connects to the FireBoard 2 series, the FireBoard Spark, Yoder Smokers, and smartphones using Bluetooth. By adding an S1G Antenna to a standalone FireBoard 2 controller, the Pulse's range increases significantly, allowing for better connectivity through metal grill bodies.

Can the Pulse control the FireBoard 2 Drive fan?

Yes, it can. While temperature readings may vary due to proximity to cooking meat, our testing has shown that these variations are within the same deviation range seen in standard wired ambient probes tied down with grill clips.

Do I need an S1G Antenna to connect the Pulse to the FireBoard?

While not strictly necessary, we highly recommend using the S1G Antenna for the best experience. You can still use the Pulse via Bluetooth connection to your FireBoard 2 without an S1G Antenna, but the S1G Antenna enables long-range connectivity, significantly expanding your monitoring range.

How long does the Pulse's battery last on a single charge?

The Pulse's battery will last approximately 24 hours on a single charge under normal use conditions. This may vary depending on usage patterns and environmental factors.

Is the Pulse waterproof?

The Pulse is water-resistant with an IP67 rating, meaning it's safe to use in rainy conditions and can be washed with soap and water.

While it can be cleaned in a dishwasher, we do not recommend this method as cleaning chemicals commonly used in dishwashers may cause buildup, reducing the Pulse's ability to charge properly. In our field testing, we've found that a little dish soap and water is often all that is required to fully clean the Pulse.

Can I use the Pulse with older FireBoard models?

The Pulse is not compatible with older FireBoard models (e.g. FBX11). It's designed to work specifically with the FireBoard 2 series. However, we have not ruled out adding this functionality in the future.

How many Pulse probes can I connect to a single FireBoard device?

You can connect up to 32 Pulse probes to a single FireBoard 2 device equipped with an S1G antenna. This allows for extensive monitoring of multiple cooking zones or dishes simultaneously.

Does the Pulse work as a standalone device without a FireBoard?

Yes, the FireBoard Pulse can work as a standalone device by connecting directly to your smartphone via Bluetooth. However, using it with a nearby FireBoard 2 is recommended so that you can leave your grill/smoker unattended and use the mobile app on your smartphone to continue monitoring from anywhere.

Can I set alarms or notifications using the Pulse?

Yes, you can set temperature alarms and receive notifications through the FireBoard app when using the Pulse. This works for any connectivity method you use (e.g. S1G via FireBoard 2, Bluetooth via smartphone, etc.)

Is the FireBoard app required to use the Pulse?
