Bunnings vs. BBQ Spit Rotisseries: Where to Buy the Best Spit Roaster?

So, you’re on the hunt for a spit roaster and thinking, “Should I just grab one from Bunnings?”

Fair enough—Bunnings has a bit of everything. But when it comes to spit roasting, there’s a big difference between cheap hardware store spits and ones built by BBQ specialists.

Let’s break it down so you don’t waste your cash on something that struggles to turn a lamb shoulder, let alone a whole pig.

What to Look for in a Spit Rotisserie?

Before you buy, make sure your spit ticks these boxes:

• Solid Motor: If the motor’s weak, your meat’s gonna struggle to turn.
• Solid Frame and Tray: Buckling and bending are no fun.
• Fuel Choice: Charcoal = better taste. Gas = quicker.
• Size Matters: Are you cooking a whole lamb or just some chooks?
• Accessories: Extra skewers, prongs, gyros discs and baskets make life easier.
